On Thursday 20th June 2024, the UNESCO Representative to Viet Nam Mr. Jonathan Baker together with UNESCO Culture and Education teams met with the SOVICO Group Chairwoman Dr.Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and leaders of the SOVICO Group in Ho Chi Minh City.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to review the results of the partnership between UNESCO and SOVICO since 2020. In particular, during the past four years, the UNESCO Office in Ha Noi has implemented two projects funded by SOVICO, one to support Ha Noi as a UNESCO Creative City of Design and to support the expansion of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Viet Nam with new members Da Lat and Hoi An. UNESCO also advised SOVICO Group in its CSR Strategy which aligns with the Group’s long-term vision in sustainable community development.
Dr.Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao highly commended the achievements of UNESCO-SOVICO partnership. She also shared with the UNESCO team the strategic vision of SOVICO Group in Culture, Education, Technology and Environment and the Group’s interests in joining hands with UNESCO for a better and more sustainable future for Vietnamese people.
During the meeting, Ms. Miki Nozawa, Head of the Education Sector took the opportunity to introduce UNESCO's role as a specialized organization on education in the United Nations and discussed some potential cooperation with SOVICO in line with its new CSR Strategy including promoting Green and Happy Schools in Vietnam.

Mr. Jonathan Baker also took this opportunity to express his appreciation for SOVICO’s support for UNESCO’s projects in Viet Nam in the past years and looked forward to building an even stronger, strategic and impactful UNESCO-SOVICO partnership in the years to come.
Building on the solid work already undertaken, UNESCO and SOVICO agreed to further strengthen the partnership and decide on concrete areas of collaboration in the coming months based on their meaningful discussion.
